Product Description

Vacuum Insulated panel VIPs for construction

Product Description

Vacuum Insulation Panel (VIP)

VIPs are thin pieces of insulation that are uniquely designed to take up very little space. They are built with layers of porous core materials encased in a gas-tight foil outer material. Once this envelope is sealed, outside gases won't be able to enter the panel and the vacuum will create thermal resistance that is up to 20x more effective than traditional insulation.
Most vacuum insulated panels are only 1″ thick, which may make them seem like they aren't very effective. However, as long as these are properly installed, these can perform just as well as many inches of traditional insulation would. If you don't have a lot of space available, this may mean being able to insulate to the R-value you desire. Although expensive, this can mean more comfort in your home and better sound dampening qualities from room-to-room.

Features

VIP insulation offers many benefits to the designer and specifier. In new build projects it can enable a level or minimal threshold whilst still maintaining U-values. The product generally allows designers to achieve their performance targets within thinner construction build-ups when compared with traditional insulation approaches, thus reducing construction costs and giving greater design flexibility.
In renovation projects there are more benefits. Upgrading the insulation value of flat roofs and terraces can create increased costs due to having to maintain upstand heights, for example by adapting windows, doors and rooflights. By using VIP many of these additional costs can be avoided, while keeping the thermal design highly efficient and ensuring that gutters and thermal bridges can also be properly insulated.

Typical Lambda values for insulation types:

Fibreglass  -    040 W/mK
EPS            -   038 W/mK
PIR             -    022 W/mK
VIP             -    006 W/mK (core only)
This huge decrease in Lambda value means that a much smaller depth of insulation can achieve the necessary U-values.

FAQ

Q:How a vacuum slows down heat transfer?
A:There are three modes of heat transfer: conduction, convection, and radiation, and if we remove most of the air molecules from a space-as occurs when we draw a vacuum-we largely eliminate the first two of those heat transfer mechanisms. Conduction is the flow of heat from molecule to molecule. It's the reason a cast iron skillet handle heats up, but thermal conduction also occurs across a layer of air, as kinetic is transferred from one air molecule to the one next to it. If we remove most of those air molecules by creating a vacuum, there will far less conductive heat flow. Convection is the transfer of heat by moving molecules from one place to another. Warm air rises, and these convection currents carry heat-for example, this is the primary means that heat is delivered to a room from baseboard convectors (often called radiators). In a vacuum there are far fewer air molecules so convection of heat nearly stops.

Q:Is it possible to work with vacuum insulation panels the same way as with conventional insulation materials?
A:The high barrier film around the vacuum panel should not be damaged. If the plastic film is punctured and air flows in, the thermal conductivity rises up to 0.020 W/mK. Therefore it is not possible to cut vacuum panels to the appropriate size on site. Equally it is not possible to puncture them with dowels or similar items. Beside these limitations, vacuum panels can be glued to other surfaces or integrated into different constructions with appropriate covers.

Q:Is it possible to make curved vacuum insulation panels?
A:In general, thin vacuum panels can be bent into cylindrical forms within some limitations. The thinner the panel, the smaller the possible curvature radii. Regular vacuum panels cannot be formed into complex forms with two-dimensional curvatures like spherical parts or similarily complicated shapes. However, new technologies allow us to produce more complex shapes, even panels with holes. Please contact us for details if you have special requirements.

Q:Up to what temperatures can vacuum panels be used?
A:The microporous filling can sustain temperatures of up to 900 °C without damage. The outer plastic barrier film, however, can tolerate temperatures up to 80°C, but at permanently applied temperatures above about 40°C to 50°C significantly more air gases and water vapor passes through than at room temperature. This limits the duration of the application.

Q:Are vacuum panels sensitive to humidity?
A:Short term exposures of high humidity don't cause any problems to the used films of the vacuum panels. However they should not be exposed to high humidity for longer periods of time, especially in combination with high temperatures. Therefore, it is advisable to install humidity barriers in such a way that the vacuum insulation panels are kept dry.

Q: How to get a quotation?
A:Please share more info such like roll size, weight per sqm, thicknes, quantity, application, etc. So as to have some reasonable suggestion & competitive cost for you reference!!!!!!!!!!

Q: How about quality control?
A: We have stable workers and engineers to make sure our quality is stable for years. Our purchase department will check the raw materials, our engineers will test the machines and the first few quantities before mass production, our QC will check the quality in production for thickness, length, width, weight…

Q:What's the regular package?
A: Flexible packing according to the specific requirements of the clients.
Caton Packaging.

Q:Delivery time delay?
A: If the goods are in stock, it usually takes 5-10 days. If the goods are not in stock, it will take 15-20 days, depending on
the quantity. Usually within 30 days.

Q:DO YOU HAVE A minimum QTY?
A:Yes, our MOQ is 500sqm.

Q:Can I order a small qty or less container to start ?
A:It's welcome for any quantity, we support small clients growing. If you are an end user, it would save you money because we are factory direct selling. But if you are buying these products for resell or wholesale, as these products are large-volume items, we suggest you container load to save your shipping cost and make you more competitive.
